Costco stores sell a pre-paid phone card that is a real bargain and WebSkulker urges all of you jr. skulkers to get one. This is the MCI-Worldcom 340 minute card for $19.99. You will see similar-looking MCI cards for sale at other stores, but only the Costco version has these prices. The Costco card is the type where you dial a toll-free number for access, punch in the calling card number, then the number you want to call. The price is only 5.9¢ per minute for calls to the U.S., which is quite low for a pre-paid card. Warning: other cards you may see advertised in stores with per-minute prices lower than 5.9¢ have a hidden surcharge for every call -- read the fine print. The Costco card has no surcharges when called from a home phone. All calling cards have a surcharge for calls from payphones, but the Costco card's payphone surcharge is only 18¢ which is much lower than with other cards. But wait, there's more! The Costco card has good rates to overseas countries and the best bargain of all is the rates from other countries back to the U.S. If you have traveled overseas and called into the U.S., you may have been shocked by the long distance rates. But MCI has a network of phone numbers around the world that you can call and use the Costco card to make calls back to the U.S. for (depending on the country) 18¢ to 42¢ per minute with no surcharges. You can buy this card at any Costco store, or click on the link above to buy it online and have them ship it to you with free shipping. Click on "more info" for more info. When the 340 minutes are running low, you can recharge the card by phone with a credit card so you don't need to buy a new one and memorize a new number. Thanks to Jr. Skulker Robert for telling us about this. ---------- http://www.cnn.com/2000/US/08/05/stolen.corneas.ap You jr. skulker simply must read this article titled "Massachusetts man charged with stealing eye parts he allegedly mistook for lobsters". Lobsters, human eye parts, they are pretty similar so it's easy to be confused.
These sites lets you be a voyeur and watch what people are typing into the web search engines. Go to the first one and after the headers you will see 10 links with phrases currently being searched in the Magellan engine by other people. Click reload, or just wait, and the page will refresh with 10 more. (The documentation says 12, but WebSkulker only gets 10 at a time). If you are curious, you can click on a search phrase to see the results of that search. The second is the same idea for the MetaCrawler search engine. This introduction page asks if you want the filtered or the potentially adult-oriented unfiltered version.
http://web.utanet.at/nkehrer/JNibbler.html WebSkulker has mentioned sites with downloadable programs that can emulate classic video games on your PC. This site has an emulator written in Java so you can play classic games right from the site without having to download anything, and the games that it emulates are the arcade console versions, not home toys. Go to the first page and click on the link "Java Arcade Emulator" for the list of games. Click on a game to open a page with the Java emulation in the upper left and keystroke instructions below that. It takes a long time for the game to get ready because Java has to start, then the emulator program starts, then it simulates a bootup of the game console. When everything seems ready, press the keyboard button (usually 3) to emulate dropping in coins, then press usually 1 to start with one player, etc. Because this is all emulated in the slow Java language, the game may play slower than normal, and you might have to hold buttons down for a while before the game will react to them. The second link above is to a game that WebSkulker found interesting not so much for the game itself, but because the emulator simulates the boot sequence so well that you see garbage and changes on the screen as the game initializes and finally draws the screen graphics.
This is the home of Zany Text Files whose motto is "A thousand words are worth a picture -- and they load faster." This is a collection of jokes and other humor of the type that gets passed on by email to everyone you know. When Ms. Cat ran across this page, WebSkulker was tempted to keep it to himself and steal items from it for the daily joke, but we have such a backlog of jokes already that we will let you jr. skulkers see this page.
The LAPD, The FBI, and the CIA are all trying to prove that they are the best at apprehending criminals. The President decides to give them a test. He releases a rabbit into a forest and each of them has to catch it.
